Pricing and FAQ's

Do I need to see a physician first to obtain a prescription or a referral?

No.  As a licensed direct access provider in Virginia, you do not need a physician's referral in order to receive physical therapy treatment at Blee Elite Sports Therapy.  If you are planning to submit to your insurance for out of network coverage and reimbursement, then you are advised to check the policy of your respective insurance provider. Based on Virginia requirements, if treatment lasts beyond 60 days then a visit to a physician is required.  This will change as of July 1st, at which time a visit to a physician will no longer be required, even after 60 days.

What is the cost per session and will you bill my insurance?

Blee Elite Sports Therapy (BEST) is a privately owned practice licensed in Virginia.  While we do not directly bill insurance, we can provide you with a superbill that you can then use to submit for any out of network coverage that you might have. Please check with your insurance provider to determine if they provide partial payment for out of network services.

Our fees are $200 per session and package pricing is available. We require full payment for your treatment at the time of service and any reimbursement will come directly to you from your insurance company after your claim is processed.  Payments can be made via credit cards through your patient portal or with personal checks at the time of your visit.

Why doesn’t BEST participate with insurances?

Simply put, we would not be able to provide the same level of individualized care that we do at the rates that insurance companies currently pay for physical therapy. When clinics participate with insurance companies and accept their rates, they are required to see multiple patients per hour and usually spend an average of 15 to 30 minutes maximum with each patient and are forced to utilize support staff to help with patient care.  This is not the case at BEST!

How does this pricing compare to traditional physical therapy clinics?

While the up-front expense may be different from what you have experienced at other physical therapy clinics, this approach will actually be much more valuable and cost effective.

The following illustrates the cost savings that you will likely experience with this approach.  On average, most patients see their physical therapist 2-3 times per week.   Most insurance plans have a copay per visit anywhere from $20-50 and most also have a deductible that needs to be met before they will begin coverage.  Average deductibles are now between $5000-10,000 depending on the plan.  This can lead to visits well over $200 for an average of 15-30 minutes of time spent with the therapist, oftentimes while they are required to see multiple patients at the same time.  Again, this is not the case at BEST!

Are you a Medicare Provider?

We are not a Medicare provider and therefore Medicare will not cover physical therapy services performed at Blee Elite Sports Therapy.  We are still able to provide care for Medicare patients, but any services provided to these patients would need to be performed as part of a wellness or maintenance model and would not be reimbursed by Medicare.

Do you provide care for maintenance and general health and well-being?

Yes!  Functional Manual Therapy (FMT) can be a highly effective treatment approach for patients seeking physical therapy to relieve pain and improve function.   This approach can also be very effective at improving movement strategies and enhancing athletic performance.  FMT is a holistic total body approach that can be utilized to help clients of all activity levels improve their movements, postures, and functional activities.  Sessions can be tailored for general health concerns or for athletic performance improvement strategies depending on the individual's needs.

Do you provide exercise instruction and sports performance consults?

Yes!  As a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist who has developed programs for many professional athletes, this is a service that can be invaluable to athletes striving to get the most out of their bodies.  Working to enhance mobility and develop proper strength, stability, and control of the body are all extremely valuable aspects to both sports performance enhancement and to injury prevention.
